Crewroom provide the technical race T-shirts for the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and Ultra events.

In 2008, the Royal Parks Foundation invited Limelight Sports to help develop central London's first ever half marathon with sustainability a central theme. Seeking to source 13,000 T-shirts supporting this theme, Limelight approached Crewroom, who proposed to develop bamboo-based shirts to deliver sustainability and offer the technical wicking properties of a running garment. Crewroom’s objectives were:

  • To manage the project’s carbon footprint by sourcing a yarn, fabric and manufacturing base within close proximity and shipping by sea
  • To reflect the race’s theme by using a renewable and sustainable resource
  • To deliver a true ‘technical’ garment
  • To create a shirt that was comfortable and fun to wear
  • To deliver within the specified timeline

The result was a product that reflected sustainability, a performance garment designed for runners in fit and function. On launch race day, a sea of maroon flowed across London as most runners wore Crewroom’s official shirt.

Crewroom continues working with Limelight to supply shirts for the Half Marathon and the Royal Parks Foundations’s junior and Ultra races. To date, Crewroom has supplied 120,000 sustainable running shirts and became Official Apparel Sponsor to the first RPF Ultra race.

Kate Giles, Crewroom Founder, says:

Our sponsorship deal for the Ultra came about following our existing relationship with the Parks, now in its sixth year, where we’ve supplied shirts for the Foundation’s popular Half Marathon. It’s very exciting to be involved at the start of a major new event like the Ultra and we’re delighted to be supporting the Foundation once again.”
