Sadie Rhodes

I joined the Royal Parks Foundation in August 2015 as an Education Officer, after working here for 4 months as a casual field teacher.  My role is to deliver curriculum-linked environmental education sessions to children of all ages, while developing the secondary school programme.  I am passionate about connecting young people to nature and have witnessed people of all ages being amazed by how much wildlife exists in the centre of London.

The best thing about my job is… being able to inspire young people about the natural world, especially those who don’t have access to gardens and other natural spaces during their day to day lives.

My favourite Royal Park is... Bushy Park, as that was where I first got into environmental education by taking part in a volunteer training programme shortly after I left university. Thanks to that I discovered my own passion for teaching others about the natural world.

My favourite fact about a Royal Park is... that Richmond Park is almost as large as all of the other Royal Parks put together!

If I were a creature in the Parks, I would be... a swan, as I love how gracefully and elegantly they glide across the Serpentine in Hyde Park.

If I had a super-power, it would be… to become invisible. I would love to be able to creep up on animals and birds to observe their natural behaviour without them being aware of a human presence.
