About Antony Worrall Thompson

Antony Worrall Thompson was born in 1951 in Stratford-upon-Avon. Educated at Kings School in Canterbury, he then studied Hotel and Catering Management at Westminster College.

In 1981 Antony opened Menage a Trois in Knightsbridge (widely known to be the Princess of Wales' favourite restaurant): it was the only restaurant in London to serve just starters and puddings.

Antony has opened numerous restaurants during his career, one of his most famous and well-liked is Notting Grill serving his unique retro grill style cuisine using only the best, locally sourced ingredients. From 2005 onwards he opened Kew Grill, The Greyhound Free House and Grill, Barnes Grill in Barnes and The Lamb Bar and Kitchen, near Henley on Thames.

Antony won the prestigious accolade Meilleur Ouvrier de Grande Bretagne (MOGB) the chef's Oscar which is the Academy of Culinary Arts competition; only seven chefs in the UK to have merited the lifelong title so far.

He has been on numerous prime-time shows. In 2006 he left the BBC, after 14 years, to host the successful Saturday Cooks on ITV1 and latterly Daily Cooks. He writes weekly columns for the Express magazine supplements and is also a prolific cookery book writer.
