About Paul Morrison

Paul Morrison was born in Liverpool in 1966. In 1998 he graduated with a Postgraduate DIP and an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College of Art. He lives and works in Sheffield and London.

Morrison is best known for his monochromatic botanical landscapes, the different elements tend to be disproportionate in size: tiny plants become huge, while massive trees can shrink. This technique creates a 'cognitive landscape', and can make the familiar - shrubs, trees, landscapes and flowers - seem foreign.

Since his first solo exhibition in London in 1996, Morrison has exhibited internationally in numerous museums and public galleries.

His commissions include the Towada Art Project in Japan (2007), the Bloomberg Public Art Fund in New York (2005) and the New Art Centre Sculpture Park in Salisbury (2004).

Public collections include the British Council Collection, Government Art Collection, Harvard University's Fogg Art Museum, Städel Museum - Frankfurt, and the Southampton City Art Gallery.
