Community & Education
Each year, Deckchair Dreams is a tribute to the brilliant imagination of local schools and communities who study art and nature and art in the Royal Parks.
More than 250 children and adults have taken part in the Deckchair Dreams school and community programme, which has been delivered in China as well as the UK. Their challenge is to create a deckchair to rival those created by professional illustrators, designers, actors and rockstars.
Working with our inspirational artist Gayna Pelham, our education team and volunteers, the groups explore the Parks. Using a range of media and original techniques, they develop their response to the natural theme to create their very own deckchair designs. A winning design is selected from each group and made into deckchairs as part of the Deckchair Dreams collection for London's Royal Parks.
Local people, young and old, used 'Nature's Grand Designs' in the Parks as their inspiration for stunning deckchair designs.
