Kensington Gardens

Starting life as a King's playground, the gardens were designed for royalty to use as a relaxation space but over a century ago they were opened to the general public, making it possible for you to visit and explore them too.

Kensington Gardens now receive millions of visitors every year and as the home of some of London’s most beautiful and most popular landmarks - from Kensington Palace and the Albert Memorial to the beauty of the Italian Gardens and the Serpentine Galleries - it’s easy to understand why.

With the child wonderland that is the Diana, Princess of Wales' Memorial Playground, which surrounds an enormous wooden pirate ship and is loved by children from across the globe.  And the Peter Pan statue in all its fairy-tale glory, which is now over 100 years old and features squirrels, rabbits, mice and fairies climbing up to Peter, who is stood at the top of the bronze statue.  The gardens are an amazing space to be enjoyed by the whole family.

As the charity for the Royal Parks, we exist to enhance, protect and preserve Kensington Gardens - everyday people, trees and wildlife benefit from our work.  We need your help to make Kensington Gardens part of more people’s lives - find out about how you can support our work.
