Meadow Makeover

Every year, Community Teamworks volunteers from Goldman Sachs generously give up their time to help restore vital areas of rare habitat by removing invasive plant species from Buckhill in Kensington Gardens.

Buckhill is an area of fragile meadow which desperately needs annual attention. The team of volunteers work with us to remove thistles and other invasive weeds to help restore a vital area of rare habitat in central London to increase biodiversity for both plants and animals.

After we're satisfied that the invasive weeds have been removed, we give the trees our attention by removing some epicormic growth. These lower branches grow from the base of trees and weaken its strength - by removing these we encourage the trees to grow taller and stronger!

Thanks to the hard work and commitment of Goldman Sachs' volunteers, this area of Kensington Gardens can continue to help the Park's wildlife to thrive.
