One of our favourite outdoor enthusiasts, the wonderful Julia Bradbury came to see us this week at the Isis Education Centre in Hyde Park, to test out her new deckchair designed for Deckchair Dreams 2013!

With Nature's Grand Designs as the theme, she teamed up with Cristiano Neves from creative agency, JWT London to create this distinctive bumble bee inspired, black and yellow striped, deckchair.

Not only will this deckchair look stunning in the Royal Parks, we, like Julia, hope the deckchair will also highlight the plight of the bumblebee in what is proving to be a challenging time for them. And with habitats declining, we can all do our bit to help these amazing pollinators.

Here at the home of the Royal Parks Foundation, the Isis Education Centre, our grounds are full of plants chosen to encourage wildlife, including different species of bees. The Bumblebee Border on West Carriage Drive by the Bowling Green in Hyde Park has also been specifically planted with bee-friendly plants, such as Red Campion, Aquilegia and Ox-Eye Daisies.

If you want to encourage bees, you too can choose plants they love for your garden or window box! A good place to find out how is the BeeKind tool on the Bumblebee Conservation Trust website and from the information about encouraging bees from the Royal Horticultual Society
