Horse-Drawn Halloween Rides

Imagine the sombre steps of a horse-drawn dray approaching as you stand at Sheen Gate, the entrance to Richmond Park.  As the gates swing open, you jump on board for a ride as no other.  Tis Hallowe’en, and Richmond Park in the dark is both exhilarating … and just a little bit scary!

The Royal Parks Foundation are teaming up with Operation Centaur, who promote horses as a contemporary working animal in partnership with humans, to give you the chance to experience a unique ride in a horse-drawn dray through Richmond Park at night.

On the evenings of 30 & 31 October and 1 November to mark Halloween, you can enjoy an hour-long ride with just eight people on board with you. Huddle together as you listen to tales of highwaymen, ghosts and a Victorian murder. Then take a moment to marvel at the Park’s majestic stags, who at this time of the year sleep by day and fight their rivals at night.

Spaces are limited on this special experience, with each seat costing just £48, which include carriage blankets and a glass of sloe gin. All the money raised will help support our charitable work and the equine therapy projects of Operation Centaur.
