Education volunteering

The Royal Parks Foundation Education Centre in Hyde Park provides outdoor learning opportunities for school children and families in Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.

Volunteer with walkers on a guided spring walk

Situated in an acre of fenced grounds in the centre of Hyde Park, we offer an oasis of calm in the heart of London and aim to foster a love of nature and respect for the environment.

We are currently looking for volunteers to join our existing group of education volunteers as we prepare for the busy spring and summer school terms ahead. The education volunteers carry out a range of interesting activities, contributing to the smooth-running and effectiveness of both school sessions and more informal learning opportunities such as bat and bird box making.

Requirements

No previous teaching experience is required, although some experience of working with children is an advantage. Energy and enthusiasm for the natural world are more important. As you will be working with children, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) check is required and will be undertaken on application. Volunteers must be willing to adhere to Health & Safety and Child Safeguarding guidelines at all times. We regret that we are unable to take volunteers under the age of 16.

Commitment

School sessions run from 1000-1200 and 1300-1500. A full volunteer day runs from 0930 to about 1600 with a break for lunch, but some volunteers prefer to help for half a day.
