Playground Partners
Together with The Royal Parks we are working to help transform the Royal Parks playgrounds into amazing spaces for children to explore.
Refurbishing the playgrounds to create a space which is a leading example of accessibility, engagement, creativity and fun is a team effort. Together, we aspire to provide inclusive and imaginative play for children and families, a vision we hope to share in years to come with other public urban parks across the UK.
In partnership with The Royal Parks, we are working with other charities and organisations to make the Swings and Roundabouts programme a reality.
Variety, the Children's Charity
Variety, the Children's Charity, has been helping sick, disabled or disadvantaged children in the UK for the past 65 years. Their aim is to help children to reach their potential regardless of their circumstances and to enable them to enjoy a better life in childhood.
Part of that ambition can be achieved by the provision of playgrounds accessible to children with disabilities as well as those more fortunate. Commenting on the programme, Trevor Green, Variety’s Chief Barker (Chair of Trustees) said:
“The Swings and Roundabouts initiative is a much needed development. It will make an immediate and real difference for children with physical and sensory disabilities. Now they can play with friends and siblings and feel more included; part of the fun. Playing together also means able bodied children grow up with more empathy and a better understanding of what disability really means.”
London Marathon Charitable Trust
When John Disley and the late Chris Brasher founded in 1980 what has become the
greatest marathon in the world, one of their objectives was to put something back into sport and recreation in London. With this in mind, the London Marathon Charitable Trust was established with the principal object of providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for leisure and recreation for the people of London.
London Marathon Charitable Trust have given two grants of £125,000 each to The Royal Parks to help restore the playgrounds in Victoria Tower Gardens and Hyde Park. Some of this has helped develop a new Play Strategy for the Parks, including consulting with local schools, families and youth groups about their vision for their playgrounds.
AEG Live
AEG Live who runs the Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park event with The Royal Parks, has been raising money in a variety of ways. These funds will be used for projects throughout Hyde Park, including South Carriage Drive Playground.
