Batty for Boxes

I’ve just got back from a fantastic volunteer day over at Regent’s Park. Five volunteers from BNP Paribas helped Tony Duckett (Wildlife Officer at Regent’s Park) and I build new bat boxes to be used around the Park.

The volunteers were so good! We built 15 boxes and they look lovely and cosy for our bat friends in Regent’s Park to roost in, especially now it’s starting to get a little chillier at night time. Bats have suffered a serious decline in numbers across the country over the last few decades so we try to play our part to protect and enhance bat habitats and roosting space across The Royal Parks.

Tony will put our boxes up around Regent’s Park, and I have brought a couple for us to use around our offices here in Hyde Park - we definitely want to see the bats as well.

I can’t believe that’s my last volunteer day of the summer, it's gone VERY quickly - can’t wait for 2012!
