Deckchair Design

Chloe donated a deckchair design for Deckchair Dreams in 2008. Her deckchair can be brought from our online shop. All proceeds help support the Royal Parks.

Chloe says:

Chloe Freemantle DeckchairIn winter, planes reveal the rich camouflage of their bark, like a glimpse of a soft-focused aerial view, constantly reflecting the changing light as it winds around their branches and trunks. They also delight us with their round hanging “baubles”, scattered through their empires, glinting and dancing wittily at us from far above. These are my focus for this project.”

“The spring brings us the fresh green of their young leaves (coupled with the physical dispersal of their “baubles” - which can be dusty).”

“In summer, their generous shade protects and offers large areas of delicious peace for us to sit beneath. And in the autumn, as their nutty brown and gold leaves cascade down for us to trample on, they again reveal their splendid souls – their extraordinary trunks and branches.”
