London and Shanghai in 2010

In 2010, over 150 children and adults designed deckchairs, inspired by nature, as part of Deckchair Dreams.

Pupils from school in Shanghai with their deckchair designs In 2010, we worked closely with over 150 pupils, aged 6-76, who came in spring and summer, from five London and three Shanghai schools to study art and nature in the great outdoors.

Every student who took part in the programme was encouraged to explore the natural environment, and the similarities and differences between UK and Chinese parks and culture. They then used every ounce of their creative potential to develop their own stunning deckchair design.

One winning piece of artwork has been chosen from each group. These have been reproduced as deckchairs for visitors to sit on and enjoy in London’s Royal Parks and Shanghai Botanical Garden and are available to buy from our online shop.
