The sun is shining and the summer holidays are almost upon us and where better to spend them than in the heart of Hyde Park? We’ve got lots of fun activities to keep your little adventurers (and you!) entertained in our secret garden this summer.

Just like us, J.M. Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan, loved the Royal Parks and published his first Peter Pan story in 1902, using Kensington Gardens for inspiration. On Friday 7 and 14 August from 11.00am to 12.30pm we’ll be discovering how the Peter Pan made his perilous journey from Bird Island in the Serpentine to the magical shores of the Long Water in Kensington Gardens. This is a chance for the kids to dress up, feel the magic and join us for this super-special guided walk – find out more here.

Let your 8-11 year old become a Nature Explorer for the day from 10am – 4pm on Tuesday 4 or Wednesday 5 August. They’ll discover how to use water-scopes, magnifying glasses, microscopes and sweep nets to find out more about the amazing animals that live in the natural world around us. From delving under the surface of the sunshine pond to reaching up into our tree canopies they will leave feeling like a real life explorer!

And if you don’t want to miss out on the fun then drop in to one of our nature Discovery Days with your little one on selected Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout August and learn about nature together. Each Discovery Day will be  themed, and they’ll be plenty of free activities including pond dipping, bug hunting, following nature trails and getting creative, all supervised by our experienced and enthusiastic Education team who are keen to share their expertise.

There really is something for everyone this summer so do drop by – and you can book onto these events here!
