Your favourite UK park? Vote royal
The Royal Parks have yet again maintained their Green Flag Awards this year, and now have a chance of competing against over 1,500 other green spaces to be crowned the People's Choice.
The competition, organised by Keep Britain Tidy, launched on 1 September and closes at noon on 30 September.
Voting is simple; visit www.greenflagaward.org, select your country or region on the interactive map, find your favourite park or green space and click the 'vote for this site' button.
The Royal Parks competing for the People's Choice are: Hyde, The Regent's, St James's and Green, Greenwich, Richmond and Bushy Parks and Kensington Gardens.
Recent Ipsos MORI research revealed an estimated 77million visitors enjoy the parks every year with 98 per cent of them rating the parks as excellent or good – making them some of the most visited and loved parks in the UK.
Andrew Scattergood, Chief Executive of The Royal Parks, said: "You don't need me to tell you how wonderful our parks are; they speak for themselves. The Royal Parks are some of the nation's most treasured open spaces, welcoming millions of visitors from all walks of life.
"Whether you are quietly walking your dogs, enjoying an afternoon stroll, attending a world famous event or getting wrapped up in the patriotism of a royal occasion, all our Royal Parks are extra special places. While only one park can be crowned the People's Choice, I'd love to see all our parks make the top 10, so remember to vote royal."
The winner of the People's Choice is expected to be announced in October.
Paul Todd, Green Flag Award manager said, "We all have a favourite park, whether it's our local green space or a special park we'll travel miles to visit. Following another record breaking year for the Green Flag Award, we are urging everyone to vote for their own favourite park, so we can crown one of these 1,582 special parks as the People's Choice 2015."
