Planning your visit

We know your time is precious and we want your visit to be as trouble-free and enjoyable as possible, so we’ve put together all the information we think you might need to read before you come.

About the Isis Education Centre

The centre contains two fully equipped classrooms which can each accommodate up to 30 students. The gardens are a secure space for children and young people to explore. Additional activities will take place outside in Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens.

How to get to the Isis Education Centre

The Isis Education Programme

Our experienced team delivers interactive national curriculum linked sessions - both for primary and secondary school students. These sessions cover:

  • Art
  • Literacy
  • Ecology
  • Sustainability
  • Geography
  • Science

We also have a number of activities tailored for students with special needs. Please contact us on 020 7036 8056 for more details and to discuss the specific needs of your group.

Prices

Primary schools

  • Our prices are £150 + VAT per class (max 30 students) for a full day session and £80 + VAT per class for half a day.

These sessions are subsidised by Halycon Gallery’s generous support. In addition, thanks to Stravos Niarchos Foundation, we are able to offer bursaries to some schools who would normally find it difficult to visit the Isis Education Centre. Please contact us on 0207 036 8056 to find out whether your school is eligible.

Secondary schools

Please call us on 0207 036 8056 to enquire about the cost of a visit.

For hire

The classrooms in the Isis Education Centre are available for hire by schools and community groups. For more information please contact us on 020 7036 8056.

Please note. It is not possible to hire any of our IT equipment (video cameras, digital microscopes, fizzbooks, sound recording equipment) for private use. These can only be used within sessions led by a member of staff from the Isis Education Centre.

Risk assessments

Teachers are encouraged to come and look around the site in order to carry out their own risk assessments. You can make an appointment to do so when you make a booking. Here are some example risk assessments to assist you:

On the day

All sessions at the Isis Education Centre include a large amount of work outdoors and so it is important that you come prepared.

When you arrive at the centre, please press the buzzer and you'll be met by a member of the education team at the gate. You'll then be welcomed into the Isis Education Centre and shown to your room. We have space to store bags and coats during indoor parts of the session.

Students must wear suitable outdoor clothing and be prepared for all weathers. It is essential to bring waterproof jackets, suitable footwear and a hat or hood. We will go outside unless the weather conditions are dangerous, so sessions will continue regardless of rain or intense sunshine.

The park is a natural ecosystem and some students may experience allergies to plants or insects. Please ensure that you are aware of any students who may be affected and that they bring their medication with them – we are not able to dispense hayfever tablets.

Please read through your pre-visit info sheets and remember to bring the suggested materials. Not having a memory stick, carrier bag or tray (dependant on session) to take student’s work back to school could be very disappointing for your class.

Lunch

Most groups eat lunch as a picnic outside in the park, though we do have an indoor space available in wet weather. There is a small café down by the Serpentine Lake, but the most convenient thing is to bring packed lunches. We do not sell food or drinks at the Isis Education Centre. Teachers will be provided with a fob to gain access to the site toilets during lunch or you may use the public toilets in the park. We have a water fountain in the building for student and teacher use.
