London Month of the Dead
Throughout October and concluding on All Souls Day, Antique Beat and A Curious Invitation are hosting London Month of the Dead: a series of intriguing talks and workshops to inform and entertain you about death, cemeteries, human osteology and the paranormal.
From meeting an undertaker or the world’s foremost expert on near death experiences or visiting a bone archive or taking part in a séance; to learning about the history of dissection and trying your own hand at it in a taxidermy workshop, these events are for the curious and you'll leave them feeling more alive then ever.
Some of the talks and workshops take place in one of the Royal Parks, the Brompton Cemetery. This beautiful garden cemetery is one of the Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries in London. Created in the 1830's, this garden cemetery is Grade I listed and a Site of Nature Conservation Importance.
Natural ageing of Brompton Cemetery means it's in desperate need of restoration. London Month of the Dead are helping to support our restoration campaign to raise £500,000 to unlock the pledge of £3.7m of conservation support made by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund by generously donating 20% from all ticket sales towards the campaign.

A mausoleum rumoured to host a time machine, a chapel based on St Peter's Basilica in Rome and headstones that served as Beatrix Potter's inspiration for the names of her famous animal characters: the legends surrounding Brompton Cemetery have always fascinated us and A Curious Invitation and Antique Beat are proud to support the restoration appeal of this historic site."
